As announced on 8th July 2008, I accepted the invitation to join the Fine Gael Party. I made this decision following serious consideration and detailed discussions with my family, my team of volunteer supporters and many other local residents in the community who offered me advice. Following contacts from a number of political parties, I ultimately based my decision on how I can best represent the interests of this community in the future. I felt it appropriate to personally notify you of my decision. In addition, I wanted to be honest with you and to make this announcement before next year’s Local Elections, rather than afterwards. Having served for the last 30 years in community development and in the voluntary sector, I am now in my 10th year as an elected councillor. In addition I now have the support of a strong national team working with my strong local team. I am even better equipped to intensify my efforts in pursuit of the many tasks I have set. These tasks include the provision of a Liffey Valley Park, together with the preservation of St. Edmundsbury and Woodville, improved public transport, a safer community from crime and anti-social behaviour, adequate school funding and classroom accommodation, and increased recreational and amenity facilities, including for our young people. Paramount in my life and my work is my dedication to the many community commitments and involvements that I have. I ask for your continued support. Should you wish to discuss any issue I am, as always, available to you and your family. I can be contacted at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
